New Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald Trailer Is Magical And Entertaining
Harry Potter's time on the big screen may be over, but we're not done by a long shot exploring the Wizarding World. In 2016. J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros time-turned back to the 1920s for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and this fall, we'll reunite with Newt Scamander and the gang for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. We got out first look at the upcoming sequel back in March, but a new trailer has arrived out of San Diego Comic-Con giving us an even better idea of what this magical adventure holds in store. Take a look!
Those who saw the first Fantastic Beasts film will remember that Newt Scamander's time in Hogwarts was cut short when he was expelled for endangering other students with a beast. The latest Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer gives us a peek at young Newt at the school taking a class taught by a Jude Law-portrayed Albus Dumbledore. But from there, the preview jumps forward to the late 1920s, where Gellert Grindelwald, the world's most dangerous dark wizard, has escaped incarceration. Like Voldemort in the future, Grindelwald believes the old ways should die, and that witches and wizards are superiors to Muggles, No-Majs, Non-magiques, whatever you want to call them. Tasked by Dumbledore to hunt Grindelwald down, Newt will be traveling across the world to find and defeat the villain. And as with any new movie set in the Wizarding World, the adventure will see all sort of weird magic at work, but for this film series, it's also important to bring in new creatures. Thankfully, it doesn't look like there'll be any shortage of those in The Crimes of Grindelwald; I'm especially intrigued by those glowing-eyed felines.
But it's not just Gellert Grindelwald who's causing trouble in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Although he seemed to have perished at the end of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Credence Barebone is back, and his Obscurus parasite is wreaking havoc again. Who knows, maybe Grindelwald will find a way to manipulate it. Fortunately for Newt Scamander, he'll have Tina Goldstein, Queen Goldstein and Jacob Kowalski by his side again, and the sequel's other new characters include Newt's ex-flame, Leta Lestrange, and his brother, Theseus Scamander, who's engaged to Leta. As an added bonus, the new trailer ends with us meeting alchemist Nicholas Flamel, who creates the Sorcerer's Stone. He's immortal, but unfortunately, his complexion and bone strength leave a lot to be desired.
